Back To The Future

So Darma and I did another photo-shoot and of course, I made another behind the scene video. The theme for this one is “Back To The Future” (as in the movie) so the outfits are pretty vintage I guess, like the 70s. You probably couldn’t tell because the video is in black and white but my favorite outfit would be the first one when the model was wearing a baggy blue shirt with denim vest and jeans. Sooo retro! Me likey. Let me know in the comment section below which one’s your favorite outfit. That’s all for now.

xoxo,

Gaby.

So last week my buddy Darma hit me up and ask if I want to help him make a behind the scene video for his fashion styling photo shoot. Of course I had to say yes. Darma is a fashion Stylist undergraduate at the Academy of Art University, majoring in Fashion Merchandising. He told me that he’s going to submit this video to be played at the Graduation Fashion show at the Palace of Fine Art, San Francisco. I’m super psyched for this.

So for this shoot, I got the chance to work with a professional model from City Model Agency, Thomas Shepherd and a lovely fashion photographer Jen McGowan. We went around small alleys in Chinatown and go up and down the steep hill of San Francisco. It was a lot of fun. So there’s the video I put together. Enjoy!

Night Out Look Book

Hey dolls!

Hope you’re all well. I thought I put together a look book for a night out. I separate the looks into 3 different occasions. A date night, girls night out and a concert night. So let’s get into it.

The first one is a date night outfit. I try to mix in some classic and romantic elements together by adding pearl necklace and a slit pencil skirt. Slit skirts are pretty around right now. Something about it makes it look classy and sexy.

Urban Outfitters Top, Topshop skirt, Zara Blazer.

The second one is a girls night out outfit. Black and gold is always my go to combo. But to top it up a notch, I add a leopard print blazer.

This third outfit is a concert night look. What’s more grungy then the mixture of studs and pleather. I love the pleather! I think they add a little bit of grunginess to any outfit.

So that’s it for my Night out Lookbook. I hope this could be somewhat helpful for you girls to mix and match your night out outfit. Let me know which one’s your favorite look in the comments down below. I’ll talk to you guys in my next one. Bye!

Layering in Spring

Spring is finally here!

It’s time to get your shorts and dresses out and layer it with style. The spring in San Francisco is sunny but windy at the same time. So layering is still necessary, but this time with COLORS! Below are some ideas of how I layer with pants, skirts and shorts. Some countries have colder spring so some of you guys might want to layer more or less depending on which part of the world you live in. But just take this as an inspiration.

The first look I put together is pretty simple. Layering a collar top with a sweater is probably the easiest way to style up a plain sweater. I throw on a white blazer on top of it all to brighten up the whole look.

I think denim shorts are my most worn item for spring. I like to be a little bit edgy this time so I add a flannel shirt and tie them in a knot around my waist. I keep the top simple with a black fringe top and a leather jacket to stay with the ‘edgy theme’.

Pastels are one of my favorite color palettes for spring. Since pastel colors are super soft, you don’t have to worry mixing a bunch of different colors at the same time. Below, I mix together yellow, green and pink in one outfit. I added an extra white fur vest that I stole from my Mom’s closet for an extra layer just in case it’s colder outside. I call this pastels color blocking.

I hope you guys find these ideas helpful. Feel free to play around with textures and colors this spring. Thank you for visiting my blog and hope you have a wonderful day. Peace!

How I style: LBD (Little Black Dress)

Hi there!

Welcome to Lace and Tones.

In this first post, I’d like to show you some ideas of how I style LBD. I personally think that a black dress is a staple piece for every girl to have in their wardrobe. Not only that it’s easy to mix and match, you can also dress it up or dress it down.

One of my favorite ways to style a black dress is to layer it with a baggy jacket or cardigan on top of it and add a thigh high socks to not show too much skin. I like the casual and effortless look it gives overall.

Another way that I like to style an LBD is by layering a crop top on it. It doesn’t matter what kind of crop top you choose, because crop top itself already adds the dynamic to the look. If you like to add an accessory, put on a beanie on. Omygosh, I’m super obsessed with beanies right now. I think beanies come really handy if you live in a windy city like San Francisco. It keeps your hair in place when the wind strikes.

You can also turn your plain black dress into a top. What I like to do is, I put on a high waisted skirt and a jacket to get a more put together look. (Tips: If your legs are short like mine, wearing a high waisted pants/skirt actually gives an illusion of longer legs. tee-hee!)

Of course, there are many more ways to style a LBD. I just thought these 3 looks are the easiest ways to style a black dress.

1.Oversized/Baggy Jacket or Cardigan

2. Crop Shirt

3. High Waisted Skirt

I’m pretty sure its easy to try on some of these looks. Feel free to mix and match it. Don’t be afraid to add pops of colors and textures to your boring little black dress. Spice it up!

If you’d like to see a video of me styling the LBD, check out my video below.

I hope you guys find this helpful and informative. Again, a black dress is a very neutral piece to style so feel free to experiment on it. Thanks for checking out my blog guys! If you have any comments/thoughts or ideas, you can leave them in the comment box below. I’d be happy to hear your opinion. Hope you guys enjoy reading this, I’ll talk to you guys in my next one.
